Noble Empress Chapter 6

Chapter 6

"Ha......."

Unconsciously, I laughed in frustration.

The main culprit was Sidica, so they might have thought they're innocent.

But they're wrong.

They were not innocent.

There were bruises on the part that was carefully covered by clothes. I glared at the little girl's body after I carefully peeled her clothes off.

"Laren, arrest the lady-in-waiting and the maids and all the guards and knights and servants from the Imperial Princess's Palace."

How scary it must be for the child? How scary it must have been when everyone despised you and even hurt you after your mother and father died?

The thought of it in which I would have to spend my cold days in tears and agony made me angry.

I tried to consider their actions because they were only given instructions by Sidica, but I couldn't do it.

No matter how much I thought about it, I didn't remember ordering them to touch her.

This was no different from challenging the imperial authority.

I carefully changed her clothes and covered her with a blanket. After I'm done, I immediately told my lady-in-waiting to prepare some digestible food.

My clothes were tight, so I changed them with the help of my maids. I changed into comfortable pajamas before laying down next to the princess on the bed.

The maid said she was moving the princess to the side, but the bed was wide, so I told her to leave the princess be.

The bed was enough for five people to occupy, so the little princess didn't take up much space.

After personally meeting the people in my memories, I was suddenly prostrated by fatigue so I closed my eyes and took a rest for a bit. I must have been tired than I thought, so I quickly fell asleep.

In my dream, I'm in my original form, with black hair and eyes, and an appearance that's not too big nor ugly.

I came home after working as usual. However, Mom wasn't home.

After eating alone, I came into the room and took out a doll. It was a pretty Gugwan doll.

I was so into dolls after I saw one for the first time in college so I worked part-time and bought a doll.

My hobby continued even after I became an office worker.

I will change its clothes, put on a wig, and patted its hair.

It was my only hobby, my only pleasure.

After I opened my eyes only did I realize that it was just a dream. I was having a dream of touching a doll until the end.

Somehow I felt depressed. It was because I was in a situation where everything changed overnight.

'You are the noblest woman in the Empire.’

When everything was so confusing and I became afraid and nervous, Laren held my hand, looked straight into my eyes, and comforted me, thinking that I might have been afraid of the poisoning incident.

The gentle words that were truly meant for the Empress relieved me of my fear.

'No one can hurt you.'

Laren's brown sugar-colored hair and bright sunset eyes made her look more lovely rather than modest.

Such a wonderful person said those words to reassure me. Her words really gave me strength.

I was now the Empress, along with the face and body, hands and feet. The Empress where no one could dare defy.

The only hassle was I tried to fit into the clothes that I didn't think would fit me.

Looking to the side, the Imperial princess was still sleeping. I reached out and touched her forehead. It seems she still has a fever. Her hand was jutting out of the blanket so I gently tuck it back in.

By the way, I'll have to feed her the medication soon, so should I wake her up, right?

While still agonizing over whether to wake her up or not, Laren came in.

"How would you like your dinner?" Laren asked in a small voice for the sake of the princess.

I slept not too long ago, so I wasn't feeling hungry.

"Just fruits. And the princess's medicine?"

"It's here."

Then I needed to wake the princess up if I want to feed her the medication.

I told Laren before to prepare something that digests well, so she must have prepared it alongside the medicine.

Soon Laren brought the soup and medicine for the princess, and also the fruits I requested.

However, the princess was still asleep.

"Just leave it."

After a moment's hesitation, Laren left the tray and went out.

When I stirred the soup slowly, its steam permeated the air.

The sleeping girl stirred up slightly. Then she was tossing and turning, and suddenly opened her eyes and began to look around.

And when she saw me, she got startled and immediately retreated to the other side of the bed.

"Your Majesty, Your Majesty....” She muttered in a hurry as she hastily got up. But she fell back on the bed perhaps because she got dizzy by the sudden action.

You wanted to hide, huh? To be honest, I wanted to hide, too.

I couldn't think of what to say to the child seeing that she's afraid of me, but there was no suitable word that came to mind.

"Did you sleep well?"

The princess's eyes trembled as soon as I spoke.

I know it's unpleasant for her. I know she doesn't like it and I know that I shouldn't, but I couldn't help it.

I cautiously approached the little girl and hugged her feverish body. Then I steadily supported her head with a pillow.

After that, I retreated a bit to get the tray on the bedside table.

"I took you to my bedroom because you weren't feeling well. My maid brought this soup for you and this medicine as well."

Only then did the princess realized that she's not in her room as she looked around. She alternately looked at me, the bowl filled with soup in my hands and the surroundings with anxious and tired eyes.

For now, I should quickly feed her and put her back to sleep.

I scooped a spoonful of soup and slowly held it out to her.

She stared at me with a puzzled look and looked at the spoon again.

"Ah—" Dazed and confused, the princess eventually opened her mouth. Delighted by her docility, I gingerly feed her the soup.

The princess was really taken by surprise. She opened her mouth again when I feed her another spoonful.

Perhaps she was very hungry, however, she ate like a baby bird.

She finished the whole bowl of soup so this time I will feed her the medicine.

As I checked the medicinal bowl given by Laren, there were no pills, just white powder. It appears that this place might only have powdered medicine.

I put some powder in the spoon and dissolved it with a bit of water.

Then I picked a fruit from the platter with my other hand using a fork.

"Ah—"

The princess, who was staring at me still in a daze, opened her mouth once again as soon as she saw me picking the fruit.

However, much to her dismay, I quickly moved my other hand holding a spoonful of medicine, and feed it to her. The princess's whole face immediately crumpled at the taste.

Following immediately after was the fruit in one hand to lessen the bitterness in her mouth.

While frowning, the princess chewed the fruit.

I removed the tray so I can move the princess and lay her on the bed in a comfortable position. Then I started to stroke her hair.

"Let's go back to sleep."

"Is this...... a dream?"

The princess could barely move her lips as she asked and slowly closed her eyes.
It was sad. So very sad. I couldn't say anything for a moment. So instead, I continued stroking her head softly.

"No. It's not a dream. Go to sleep now. You'll be fine after you wake up."

The little princess soon fell asleep with an even breathing sound.

After the princess fell asleep, I consumed all the fruit in the platter.

I must see the Crown Prince tomorrow and also the Knights.
